The PID principle
Photoionization detection uses ultraviolet photons to ionize target compounds. The resulting current can be measured to indicate volatile organic compounds and other gases with ionization potentials within the lamp energy range.
An RF-driven krypton lamp emits vacuum ultraviolet radiation with tightly defined photon energy.
Target molecules absorb photon energy and form ions and electrons inside the PID chamber.
The detector measures the ion current for responsive, field-ready VOC monitoring.
